Now back from a recent trip to Guyana for filming, our Creative Director Kevin has shared with us his experience of completing a total of twenty-four days in quarantine as part of the job. On the outbound trip it was a requirement from the Guyanese government that all personnel travelling to the country with any involvement with the oil and gas operations complete fourteen days of quarantine in a staging facility as well as two PCR tests to screen for COVID-19.
On the return journey he was required to follow the UK government requirements and complete ten days in a government quarantine hotel and another two PCR tests before being allowed to return home since Guyana is currently on the UK's red list of countries with regards to the Coronavirus outbreak. Although much time in quarantine was necessary, very little of it was wasted as the outbound trip involved capturing the process and procedures implemented to successfully run the staging facility for a large number of crew that were heading out to Guyana for work.
The ten days on the return journey were spent editing the captured footage from the staging facility, offshore and in country in Guyana. A very unique experience that really shows how the world has responded to the outbreak and also putting into perspective the lengths that a lot of overseas workers are having to go to just to be able to go out and do their jobs.
